CV:
I am a professional son of Samuele Valerio who thaught me once… Nature, aesthetics, cosmetics, conservation are the same thing… dentistry.
In my private practice in Sestri Levante, near the Ligurian sea I have learnt how to make wonderful dentistry in wonderful people, just putting passion in every little thing.
After my dental training in Geneva I have had the opportunity to travel around Italy and the world lecturing and training dentists in Aesthetic and Conservative Dentistry.
Passion for composite has given me the opportunity of being a teacher in conservative dentistry in Geneva and Madrid. And in the present time a Professor in Siena (Siena University), Marseille (Universitè de la Mediterranèe) and Barcelona (Universitat Internacional de Catalunya).
Author and co-author of several publications in scientific international journals, lecturer in national and international courses and congresses on this subject. Lecturer and trainer in the most important european universities (Paris, Nice, Geneva, Warsaw, S. Petersburg, Prague, Thessaloniki).
Abstract - lecture:
Camouflage: The composite revolution in anterior teeth
Composite resin are dental materials for daily use, thanks to the material evolution and the proposed techniques in the last years it can be considered a definitive restoration material.
What does definitive means?
A solution that reinforces the tooth and integrates aesthetically, with the possibility of being repaired in time, modified and corrected, accompanying our patient’s life.
Adhesion to enamel is a certainty: And that is why a proper planification of the case, maintaining the available enamel, puts the composite as a first choice material in any shape modification of natural teeth, diastema closure and small additions to optimize the smile of our patient.
In the case of complex restorations as a single or multiple teeth fracture, is it possible to cover the buccal surface of the tooth? What is the best possible solution to adopt? Do we always need a mock up?
And how to make it simply and efficient?
Ceramic veneers are replacing the use of crowns:
Can the composite restorations be a valid and permanent solution to ceramics?
The modern dentist has the need of simplifying and speed up its own work: and at the same time answering to the demands of a patient that wants the certainty of its aesthetic restorations in a rapid way.
The lecturer will discuss how to use the modern composite materials in few layers to cover up, when needed, all the tooth or part of it with solutions done directly, semi-directly and indirectly with and without mock up, indicating advantages, disadvantages, work time, costs and longevity of the restorations by follow-ups.
Many follow ups after years in the mouth will be shown.

Abstract:
Cementation protocols in digital era. Step by step procedures.
Nowadays we stumble across whole range of new restorative materials for crowns, onlays and veneers. With CAD/CAM technology we can produce them faster with more accuracy but with new materials we should apply appropriate protocols. What cement to use with what materials? How to cement new zirconias? What protocol for CAD/CAM manufactured onlays and veneers? Lecture will give practical tips for choosing cement for restoration material. How to simplify clinical protocol and achieve predictable result in terms of both durability and aesthetics.

- advantages of resin modified GIC cements over standard GIC
- new zirconias and their aplication
- dental scanner aplication and common problems
- bonding in esthetic area, try in pastes
- dual cure vs light cure cement
- step by step cementation of zirconia crown, composite onlay, ceramic veneer

Abstract:
Abstract – lecture:: Socket and soft tissue preservation after tooth extraction
Aesthetically unfavorable soft tissue changes following tooth extraction can be avoided with predictability using several techniques. Development and experience with these clinical protocols allow today not only prevention of soft tissue collapse in cases of ideal intact socket, but with a better understanding to the biology of bone, also in cases of primarily compromised situations with existing bone wall and soft tissue defects. Several techniques of socket preservation (xenograft plus collagen membrane, cortical lamina membrane, IDR techique) will be discussed and described in relation to the different socket wall defficiencies and soft tissue defects at the time of extraction.
Abstract – hands-on course: Shooting outside the mouth: crowns, bridges, teeth.
Documenting the dental procedures is often necessarily followed by extraoral photography of prosthetics like crowns, bridges, veneers, smile, soft detail etc. Adoption some of the tips and tricks of correct and creative use of light, composition and camera set-up can us easily bring impressive pictures. Thanks to these photographic skills we can create beautiful contrastful pictures that will make, added to our intraoral pictures, our documentation complete and complex. Techniques of shooting the black background, white background, glossy vs. matte objects, understanding the depth of field, different light sources and its influence will be discussed.

Abstract:
Wedge-shaped defects – restoration, periodontal surgery or combination?
Wedge-shaped defects represent an area of therapy where often it is not completely clear which type of treatment is the most appropriate. Generally it is considered a conservative therapy and the composite restoration, eventually a coverage of the defect with a prosthetic reconstruction. But it comes into the game a possibility to cover gingival recessions and cover the defect with soft tissues. Specific decision-making occurs in situations where the patient requires to achieve optimal aesthetics. In the lecture the author will try to explain the possibilities of therapy in this specific area, to show realistic boundaries of individual approaches and their combinations and to propose an algorithm for therapeutic consideration.

Abstract:
Functionally-aesthetic work with compromised endodontically treated tooth.
Almost every day in the office we solve the dilemma whether to extract the tooth or give it a chance. Is really the implant the right choice? Before we take the tools suitable for tooth extraction, it is appropriate to find out if we have other methods of choice how to use the remaining dental tissues. During the lecture the clinical situations of work with the compromised tooth will be discussed. Gaining the tooth ferrule from a conservative approach to surgical and subsequent prosthetic reconstruction of this tooth.
